The weightloss Journey Begins

UGH--its SPRING! But I am grateful that here in Nebraska our weather is simply all over the board and big sweatshirts and sweaters are still weather appropriate. My body is not ready for the clothing make-over from winter to spring to summer! As I wrote in my blog earlier regarding LYRICA, my weight loss has not only stalled, I enjoyed a nice big 15 pound increase. I have decided to start taking charge of my body and my body image and drop the weight and then some! I read that women tend to lose weight much slower and much harder than men. Case in point: My husband dropped 15 pounds and shed extra inches just by using the total gym, ab lounger, and switching to lite beer. Apparently those pounds came to visit my thighs and set up house!

I have utilized different diets throughout the years. Being 34 years old, having fertility issues, and giving birth to 3 children (2 by c-section) you can only imagine how nice that weight ball keeps bouncing up and down. The first diet diet I ever used was the Atkins diet. Most everyone knows that the Atkins diet is low carb high protein diet. Strict in the beginning but well worth it for the results. Before becoming pregnant I did a great amount of research regarding fertility and PCOS. This was before PCOS was as well diagnosed as now, and Atkins was still relatively new.

When I began the Atkins diet it was definitely hard. Giving up the pasta and potatoes I love was difficult, but in just 2 weeks I had lost 18 pounds and my PCOS was coming into control. I am one that can KEEP the weight OFF, so when the critics of this diet say that "you just gain it all back" this is untrue! The diet simply teaches you to add in the carbs, make better choices, and maintain your weight.

After my son was born, I opted to do a lighter version on the Atkins diet, still losing the weight and feeling better overall. However, after my daughter it was nearly impossible to get back into the Atkins diet, and of course I went ahead and got pregnant again with my 3rd (only 8 months later) so never did lose all that baby weight. After my 3rd child, I tried to stay on the Atkins diet. I lost 12 pounds, and then gorged on my carbs...gaining 5 pounds back.

I opted into the weight watchers program. This was and is a great diet. For me though, I NEED that mega weight loss beginning, it keeps me motivated. I did lose about 8 pounds, but once I started on the Lyrica and Amrix, nothing could stop the bloating and weight gain. I gave up on the Weight Watcher program, no sense in wasting money. My mother however, swears by Weight Watchers, she has also done numerous diets, but Weight Watchers has worked for her and she looks and feels amazing!

SO,yesterday I decided to go back to Atkins! Strict! My goal is simply to lose 20 pounds. This should be possible! I am going to invest in a treadmill, I have my total gym and ab lounger. This is the goal! I want to be comfortable in my own skin! I know the Atkins works for me! I have been scaling back the medications which should help! Any and all physical activity and better diet should enhance the weight loss!

I have also warned my husband to keep his lost pounds contained, I am not the lost and found! Week 1:174:154
