Oh, the dilemma--where to find and sell handmade items on the internet. We are bombarded with so much anymore that its hard to make the right choice, the least expensive and more bang for your buck choice. Well, I have of course been searching and searching. I have found a few spots to sell and buy wonderfully handmade craft items from crochet (which I DO) to jewelry, to art creations, handmade ties, vintage items and more. Yes, there is always EBAY, but in my crochet world, you tend to get much less for your item than if you were selling on a truly handmade site. Yes, you can buy a baby blanket at Target for $15.00--wonderful little blanket, BUT this is something that is mass produced--purchasing a baby blanket that has been hand crocheted is much more personable, very special, and adds that sentimental touch that so comes with newborns and bringing them home to start their adventure.
With that in mind--I have a few sites to look at: First is WinkElf--Wonderful place to buy and sell items all the time, you can simply log on and shop, paying through paypal, a safer way to purchase items....WINKELF check it out and find something truly amazing!
Next is Shop Handmade, another perfect place for finding handmade items for gifts or for yourself. A wonderful place to sell your handmade crafts too--just stop in, its very easy to sign up and sell and/or buy.
And then of course there is Etsy. This has an amazing selection of items from vintage buys to supplies and gift ideas. Again very easy to shop and buy, you simply register for free for an account and make your purchases. As a buyer you can also log into the forums pages and see what sellers are talking about, even join into the conversations.
Each of these marketplaces of course are perfect for finding handmade items, but I am still on the prowl for additonal handmade marketplaces to purchase and sell items--a place that embraces our flaws and our talents, and reminds us that while mass productions are convenient and usually less expensive--you cannot deny the sentiment and heart put into a handmade item. Something truly captivating of those unique, one of a kind, handmade pieces.
